Jinan City, Shandong Forestry Bureau bred "high-dimensional C large jujube" series of varieties

A new breed of “High-dimensional C large-jujube” cultivated by the Forest and Fruit Promotion Station of the Jinan City Forestry Bureau of Shandong Province has recently won the first prize for Shandong Forestry Scientific and Technological Achievements. Experts agree that the variety is used in breeding and wild jujube development and utilization technologies. Such aspects have reached the international advanced level.

In order to fill the gap of lacking good jujube varieties in China for a long time, the Jinan Forestry Bureau has fully utilized the rich wild jujube germplasm resources in the mountains of southern Jinan. After more than 10 years of experimental research, it has successfully selected the comprehensive agronomic traits with local characteristics of Jinan. Excellent fresh wild jujube cultivation new varieties of "brittle jujube" and "sweet and jujube", greatly enriched the characteristics of our fruit tree species resources.

The "High-dimensional C big jujube" fruit is nearly elliptical in shape, with an average longitudinal diameter of 2.42 cm, a horizontal diameter of 2.25 cm, and an average fruit weight of 5.03 g. The vitamin C content per 100 g of fresh wild jujube was determined by the quality evaluation of the Food Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture. Up to 468 milligrams, 4.3 times that of winter jujube, 33.5 times that of dried jujube, and 160 times that of apple, which is 4 times higher than that of "King of VC". This kind of skin is thin and brittle, with a small thick core and sweet and sour taste. It has a high nutritional and health value and is suitable for fresh food and processing.

"High-dimensional C big jujube" pollution-free, early maturity, high economic value, its bred, will change our country's jujube producing areas lack of excellent fresh jujube cultivation of new varieties of the situation. Its scale development and planting can meet the needs of urban and rural residents for diversification, quality, and specialization of fruit consumption.
