The new variety allows Fuling mustard to break through the cultivation of "forbidden areas"

From the beginning of November, the first batch of 3,000 mu of early-maturing freshly-picked vegetables planted in Fuling District was successively plucked and put on the market, which was more than two months earlier than the local mustard picking time in previous years, becoming the earliest listed mustard in Sichuan and Chongqing. This is the result of applying new varieties and new technologies to plant mustard crops.

Fuling is a famous hometown of mustard. Because the pickled mustard crop is cool, moist, and not tolerant to cold, winter has become a “forbidden zone” for mustard planting. In the past, this crop could only be planted for one season a year, and it was mainly processed into finished product sales, which to a certain extent restricted the rapid development of the mustard industry.

The relevant person in charge of the Fuling District Association for Science and Technology introduced that this year, the district has seized the opportunity for the city to include Fuling mustard into the “4+1” base counties in the city to support development. It decided to turn Fuling mustard into the first brand of Chongqing vegetables and implement it. This autumn mustard planting area of 570000 acres, total production of 1.2 million tons. Among them, 51,000 mu of fresh mustard base was built to provide 100,000 tons of fresh mustard for the national vegetable market.

According to reports, if the "Old Huang Li" mustard must be sown before and after the "White Dew", the mustard must be postponed until January or February of the following year. After the Fuling District Association for Science and Technology and the relevant experts in agricultural technology have studied, it is believed that new varieties and technologies will be applied. It is best to sow ahead of time so that the early morning mustard is served.

As early as 2000, the Fuling District Agricultural Research Institute had already started to cultivate new varieties of early sowed and early-matured mustard. In 2006, “Zhaiza No. 2” passed the examination and approval of the Municipal Agricultural Crops Examination Committee. The variety can be planted 10-15 days in advance. specialty. Since 2003, the scientific research personnel of this institute has begun to carry out the research and demonstration of the key technologies of the raw materials base for second-stage mustard picking. Through successive years of research on cultivation techniques at different altitudes, the conditions for this year's trial planting have matured.

Under the guidance of scientific and technical experts, the farmers of the planting base will be divided into three batches of early, middle and late in August 20, August and mid-October, and will be planted at different altitudes, from November of this year to March of next year. All mustard output is available in April, which can extend the season of fresh sales.

Scientific and technological advancement has not only broken through the cultivation of "forbidden areas" but has also turned into a powerful productivity. It is reported that the 51,000 mu of mustard planted in Fuling District this year has a per mu yield of about 1,000 kg, and vegetable growers are expected to increase income by more than 120 million yuan. At present, the second batch of 47,000 mu of early-maturing mustard fields is in good condition, and the third batch of 1,000 mu of mustard seedlings is being transplanted.
