Once the bearings are manufactured and have passed inspection, they should be cleaned and treated with anti-rust agents before being placed in the inner packaging. This process ensures protection against water, moisture, dust, and shocks, preserving the quality and precision of the bearing, as well as its usability and marketability.
Bearing packaging is typically divided into two main categories: **inner packaging** and **outer packaging**. The inner packaging plays a crucial role in maintaining the bearing's condition during storage and transport, while the outer packaging provides additional structural support and ease of handling.
### Types of Inner Packaging Based on Anti-Rust Period:
1. **Short Anti-Rust Packaging (3–6 months):**
Suitable for large-volume deliveries to the same customer or for bearings that will be used shortly after delivery. It uses simple and cost-effective materials such as plastic tubes or basic paper bags.
2. **Standard Anti-Rust Packaging (1 year):**
Ideal for general-purpose bearings that are not expected to be stored for long periods. It offers a good balance between cost and protection.
3. **Long Anti-Rust Packaging (2 years):**
Designed for high-precision or special bearings that may need extended storage. This type often includes more advanced materials like moisture-resistant films and sealed containers.
### Common Materials Used for Inner Packaging:
- Polyethylene plastic tubes or boxes
- Kraft paper
- Plain or crepe polyethylene composite paper
- Cardboard boxes
- Polyethylene or polyethylene plastic film
- Nylon or plastic fastening tape
- Waterproof and high-strength plastic tape
- Linen bags
All these materials must meet specific corrosion resistance standards to ensure the bearings remain in optimal condition.
### Guidelines for Inner Packaging by Bearing Size:
#### 1. Miniature Bearings:
- Pack 10–15 sets in a plastic cylinder.
- Place 5–10 cylinders into a carton, bag, or roll.
#### 2. Medium and Small Bearings:
- Wrap multiple sets in polyethylene film and cover with kraft paper or composite paper.
- Load into a plastic cylinder or box.
- Individual units can be packed in sealed polyethylene bags and then placed in a carton.
#### 3. Large Bearings:
- Wrap each unit in polyethylene film or composite paper, then place in a cardboard box.
- Use sealed polyethylene bags, fold the mouth, and place in a box.
- Special plastic boxes for individual units.
- Three-layer wrapping: inner layer (polyethylene or composite tape), middle layer (fastening tape), and outer layer (waterproof plastic tape).
#### 4. Extra Large Bearings:
- Use the same three-layer wrapping method as large bearings.
- For extra-large bearings, a four-layer wrapping can be applied, adding a linen tape as the outermost layer.
For **separable tapered roller bearings** with an outer diameter of ≥150mm, it is recommended to separate the inner and outer components before packaging, or wrap them individually. For **exchangeable cylindrical roller bearings** with similar dimensions, it is common to package the internal components separately for easier handling.
### Outer Packaging Standards:
- **Double corrugated boxes:** Each box should weigh no more than 25kg, and the exterior should be secured with plastic strapping.
- **Nailed wooden boxes:** Maximum weight per box is 30kg, and the exterior should be wrapped with blue steel straps.
- **Calcium plastic corrugated boxes:** Also limited to 25kg per box, with plastic strapping around the outside.
When placing the inner-packed bearings into the outer packaging, make sure to line the box with a plastic bag or film. If there is empty space, fill it with dry materials like corrugated paper or scrap paper to prevent movement and damage.
