Matsushita has developed a lithium-ion battery for small wearable terminals, and demonstrated it at "CEATEC JAPAN 2015".
Developed in a cylindrical shape with a diameter of 3.6mm to 4.6mm, it can be built into the temples. Matsushita believes that the demand for small terminals such as smart glasses and medical instruments will continue to increase, and plans to supply terminal manufacturers.
The product name is "pin-shaped lithium-ion battery" and is a cylindrical battery with a stainless steel exterior and a height of 20mm to 35mm. At present, mass-produced products with a capacity of 13mAh (diameter 3.6mm, height 20mm) have been started. Panasonic also announced that it is developing products with a capacity of 27mAh (4.6mm in diameter and 25mm in height) and 45mAh (4.6mm in diameter and 35mm in height), both of which are planned to be supplied in volume after 2016.
According to Matsushita's introduction, the advantage of stainless steel exterior packaging is its small volume expansion. After 1000 charge and discharge measurements, the volume remains unchanged.
Panasonic’s products are expected to support rapid charging (3C charging) with a charge of 80% for a charge of 20 minutes. Currently, the original product that is currently being mass produced can only reach about 30% of charge (1C charge) during a 20-minute charge.
