Before scraping, it is essential to carefully inspect the journal to ensure it can be properly lubricated and check for any defects such as rust or dents. When performing the scraping process, start with light pressure and gradually increase the force as needed. Begin with small areas, and once the touch area reaches about 50%, switch to lighter scraping. After each pass, wipe the bearing surface clean and reapply the developer to the journal for inspection. Continue this process until the desired contact condition is achieved. However, for high-precision bearings, the use of a developing agent should be avoided during the final stages of scraping. At this point, the journal should be wiped clean and placed directly into the bearing to check for bright spots, which indicate the actual contact points. These spots should then be carefully scraped until the required precision is met. Scraping is not just about achieving the right number of contact points; it also involves ensuring that the side clearance and contact angle meet the required specifications. Typically, the contact points are checked first, followed by the contact angle, and finally the side clearance. However, some contact areas should not have sharp boundaries, and when touched with fingers, there should be no noticeable roughness or marks. The oil groove design depends on experience but follows certain key principles: 1. Lubricating oil should enter the bearing from the minimum pressure area of the oil film. 2. The oil tank should be placed in the non-load-bearing area to prevent the oil film's load capacity from being reduced. 3. The axial direction of the oil tank should not be fully enclosed to avoid oil leakage from the ends. 4. For horizontal equipment, the oil groove should be opened halfway and should not extend into the bearing area. The full-length oil groove should be placed close to the edge of the bearing. Additionally, the oil hole should be positioned at the top of the bearing bushing. The oil groove can be surrounded by the oil inlet hole, and its width should match the hole diameter.
