In 2013 and the first four months of 2014, our car sales performed well, which significantly boosted the auto parts industry. According to available data, in 2013, the annual production and sales of automobiles reached 22,116,800 and 2,194,400 units respectively. In the first quarter of 2014, the total revenue of 20 listed Chinese auto parts companies hit 73.67 billion yuan, marking a year-on-year increase of 13.7%. This success has encouraged various regions to invest in new projects, aiming to strengthen their presence in the auto parts sector. It's safe to say that the outlook for China’s auto parts industry in 2014 is very promising.
One notable development is the establishment of an auto parts export base in Qingdao. Identified by the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce, the Qingdao Automobile Industry New City is located in the northeast of Jimo City. So far, 65 major projects with a total investment of 24 billion yuan have been successfully introduced. Among them, 25 projects, including Qingdao auto parts, are already operational, with over 11 billion yuan invested. This has begun to form a comprehensive automotive industry chain covering complete vehicles, modified vehicles, auto parts, power generation equipment, and logistics.
In Ningbo, efforts are accelerating to build a 10-billion-yuan auto parts cluster. A China Auto Parts Purchasing Base has recently been established in Ninghai. The China National Automobile Import and Export Corporation has signed a fixed purchase agreement with Ninghai Auto Life Plaza, while the Agricultural Bank of China Ninghai Branch has committed 800 million yuan to support market cultivation. Over 200 auto parts manufacturers and merchants from the Yangtze River Delta region have shown interest in settling there. Once completed, the plaza is expected to generate a total output value of 10 billion yuan.
Suizhou, known as one of China’s key special vehicle production bases, is planning to build a global e-commerce platform for auto parts. With over 400 types of automobile products and more than 1,000 kinds of components, the city has a strong foundation in the industry. With the rise of e-commerce, Suizhou aims to launch a professional online platform this year, helping local auto parts companies expand their reach and attract more buyers.
In Zhangzhou, the first enterprise of the 10-billion-yuan auto parts industrial base has started operations. The project, signed last May, is expected to generate about 20 billion yuan in annual turnover once fully operational. The base will create a unique industrial cluster linking automobile manufacturing, parts testing, R&D, production, marketplaces, headquarters economy, and financial services. Currently, site preparation is underway, and infrastructure such as water, electricity, and roads is being connected. On May 6, the first company within the base officially began operations.
Beyond these developments, many other cities with strong automotive industries are also investing heavily in auto parts projects. Examples include the auto parts production project of Changchun Dongfang Tenglong Road and Bridge Co., Ltd., the Chongqing Lingyun Auto Parts II Project, and the commercial auto parts and mining machinery production base built in Panzhihua, Sichuan.
With rising car sales and increasing government attention, China’s auto parts industry is set for a significant growth phase in 2014. While the expansion of new projects is natural, it’s crucial to approach planning carefully. Thorough market research and coordination during the early stages are essential to avoid盲目 construction and redundant investments, ensuring sustainable and orderly development.
