During the maintenance of the generator set , it is often necessary to measure the size of some parts and the fit clearance between the parts. Therefore, whether or not the measuring tool can be accurately measured will directly affect the quality of the repair and the maintenance time. Therefore, as a maintenance technician of a generator set, it is necessary to be proficient in the correct use of various measuring tools. In the maintenance of generator sets, the frequently used quantities include steel rulers, vernier calipers, micrometers, gauge cylinders, gauge gauges, and cylinder pressure gauges. The following focuses on the structure, working principle, and usage of steel ruler measuring tools.
Generator Steel Ruler Measuring Tool
Steel ruler, also known as straight steel ruler or steel ruler, is an ordinary tool for measuring the size, shape, and position of various parts, with an accuracy of 0. 5mm. Usually, the steel ruler is made of stainless steel plate with a thickness of 1mm and a width of 25mm. One end of the ruler is a straight edge, which is called the working end edge; the other end of the ruler has a small hole for suspension, and the length thereof is 150mm, 200mm, 300mm, 1000mm, and 1500mm. Figure 1 shows the appearance of a steel ruler with a length of 1000 mm.
When using a steel ruler, the working end of the ruler can be placed against the step of the work piece, and the figure 2(a) can be read after correcting. If there is no reliable step on the workpiece, use the plane of the flat iron as the step in Figure 2(b). If the working end of the steel ruler is worn, the "o" line reading is not timed. To make the measured dimension accurate, a length of 10mm is usually left at the end of the ruler, and the second whole point is used as a starting point, and then measured. Subtraction of 10 mm from the reading is the actual size of the measurement shown in Figure 2(c).

In addition to measuring the length of the steel ruler, using its “elevation” can also check whether the cylinder head plane of the internal combustion engine is deformed and whether the lamination belt of the motor core or banding is higher than the specified figure 2(d).
When measuring the length of the cylinder, the steel ruler should be placed vertically on the workpiece. The steel ruler should be parallel to the center line of the cylinder. When measuring the diameter of the cylinder, the steel ruler should be placed on the end face of the cylinder. Special attention should be paid to: steel ruler The edge must pass through the center of the circle, otherwise the measurement error will be large.
When repairing a diesel generator set, use the steel ruler gauges as described above.
