Shenhua Huanhuang Port Co., Ltd. recently received official approval from the National Development and Reform Commission for the Phase IV expansion of the Huanghua Port Coal Terminal. This major project is set to significantly boost the port's annual capacity, reaching an impressive 54.6 million tons once completed. The investment in this phase is estimated at approximately RMB 55.52 billion, marking a substantial commitment to enhancing China’s coal logistics infrastructure.
The project will introduce a new 50,000-ton berth and build upon the existing infrastructure from the third phase to create a 100,000-ton level terminal using a dual-side ship-loading model. It will also include two 70,000-ton berths and one 35,000-ton berth, ensuring greater efficiency and flexibility in handling large vessels. In addition, the facility will be equipped with 11 sets of advanced coal loading and unloading equipment, designed to streamline operations and reduce downtime.
The storage area will be developed with a combined layout, featuring 24 coal silos, each with a capacity of 30,000 tons, as well as an open storage yard covering 390,000 square meters. This expanded storage capability will support the growing demand for coal transportation across the region.
Currently, the total design capacity of the Huanghua Port Coal Area stands at 128 million tons annually. With the completion of Phase IV, the port will add another 54.6 million tons to its capacity, pushing the total beyond 200 million tons. This development is crucial for strengthening the western coal transportation network and supporting the northern coal supply chain, ensuring reliable and efficient coal distribution across China.
