How to increase the service life of the cable?

After several years of rapid development, China's mining cable industry has reached a considerable scale. However, the sector is currently facing challenges due to an imbalance between production capacity and market demand. The current production capacity far exceeds the forecasted demand for this year, leading to overcapacity and intense competition. At the same time, wire and cable companies are under pressure to improve product technology and innovation to stay competitive in the evolving market. One major issue is low-level redundant construction. The industry has not adequately focused on adjusting its product structure, resulting in significant overlap and inefficiency. High-end products are still insufficient to meet the growing demand. For instance, bare wire production accounts for nearly 20% of total output in China, while developed countries only produce around 10%. In the category of bare wires, overhead lines and common aluminum conductor steel-reinforced cables (ACSRs) dominate, which limits the industry’s ability to move toward more advanced and specialized products. Another challenge is the low economic returns. Over 700 companies in the industry are operating at a loss, with these enterprises accounting for nearly a quarter of the total losses. The industry's tax rate on sales income dropped from 11.7% in 1991 to just 5% in 1995. As efficiency declined, the number of unprofitable companies increased, and financial pressures became widespread. The average debt-to-equity ratio in the industry is as high as 70%, indicating serious liquidity issues. Moreover, the industry has expanded too quickly, with overall capacity exceeding demand by more than double. For most major products, the projected demand for 2000 is less than the existing production capacity, signaling a need for restructuring and optimization. During operation, the local bending radius of shearer cables used in coal mines is much smaller than that of standard cables. These cables are often subjected to continuous stress from excessive bending and stretching, which can lead to long-term damage. Additionally, the cross-sectional area of the control core is significantly smaller than that of the main conductor, increasing the risk of core breakage. To address these issues, several improvements are recommended: 1. Enhance the flexibility of shearer cables used in coal mines to better suit the harsh working conditions. 2. Improve the relative slippage of the control wire core to reduce mechanical stress. 3. Increase the strength of the conductors in coal mine shearer cables to enhance durability. 4. Change the original bundle-twisted structure of the conductor to a regular twisted one, improving bending performance. Adding a braided layer outside the conductor can further increase its strength. 5. Use tinned copper wire and braided weaving for the control core, which can significantly improve its performance and reliability. By implementing these improvements, the industry can better meet the demands of coal mining operations and ensure safer, more efficient cable performance.

Brass Nut

Brass fasteners are used for their physical and aesthetic properties. Brass is utilized due to its high thermal conductivity and corrosion resistant properties, it is suitable for use in hot and cold environments, and resistant to water corrosion, making it a staple of industries such as heating and plumbing. Brass fasteners are largely non-magnetic (like any fastener, slight magnetic properties can develop during the manufacturing process) and resistant to tarnishing.

Brass fasteners are suited for some marine environments, including brackish water and slow current sea water; brass in this environment develops a protective green coating. Brass fasteners are also commonly used with wood applications, as the golden coloring blends well with the tan wood. Brass is a softer metal and must be used with care, always drilling pilot holes and using driver bits that fit the head of the screw precisely to prevent stripping. Brass Bolts also require a pilot hole be driven before installtion.
