A new generation of welding shielding gas applications (2)

Adding H 2 (up to 5%) to argon in TIG welding increases the arc voltage, shrinks the arc and the molten pool, and the penetration has a higher aspect ratio and increases the welding speed. Adding H 2 (up to 1.5%) to argon/CO2 in MAG stainless steel only for austenitic stainless steels (300 series, eg 304, 316), increasing the aspect ratio of the penetration, equivalent to argon Compared to /CO 2 , the weld surface is brighter.

3. Compare the difference between welded carbon steel with FerrolinxTM shielding gas and pure CO 2 gas

Due to the physical properties of the gas, the CO 2 shielding gas has certain limitations in terms of production efficiency and quality when used as an arc shielding gas for MAG welding. After years of research, we have developed FerrolinxTM gas to address the limitations of CO 2 .

We test separately from welding speed, splash size or grinding to splash, visible weld quality (smoothness, bulging), soot and other environmental and unit welding costs.

For the steel structure industry, because of the large amount of welding work and the complicated and hard work, it is everyone's hope to improve productivity. After years of research, we have developed FerrolinxTM gas mixture to greatly improve welding efficiency. Recently, we conducted a one-day actual comparative test in a steel structure enterprise in Longhua. The measured welding results are shown in the table below.


(1) Welding speed As can be seen from Table 1, the welding speed using FerrolinxTM is increased by 33.4%. Due to the increase of welding speed, the cost per metre of weld seam can be greatly reduced, the production efficiency can be increased, and the unit energy consumption can be reduced.

(2) Lower Splash With FerrolinxTM, it can bring less splash, smaller splash particles and easier to remove. The cleaning time per meter of weld can be reduced by 2min. Less silicide and a clean weld surface, resulting in less sanding and cleaning time during multiple passes. FerrolinxTM welds a smoother weld surface, and the weld height can be reduced from 30% to 10% of the CO 2 protection weld (as shown in Figure 1, Figure 2).



FerrolinxTM's welding process is more efficient than the CO 2 welding process, a difference caused by splashes and soot. The efficiency of CO 2 is 85% and the efficiency of FerrolinxTM is 94.5%. Due to the smoother welds and higher utilization, the wire consumption per unit length of weld can be reduced.
