Rational fertilization in the late stage of corn growth

From the jointing and booting stage to the heading and flowering stage, the maize plant has a fast growth rate and a large amount of nutrients absorbed. It is a key period for the absorption of fertilizer. After flowering and pollination, more nutrients are absorbed, but the absorption rate is slowed down. Therefore, high yield of corn must be done in the late stage of fertilization, early ear, promote big ears, and high yield.

Foot water is pregnant. The booting stage is the period of most water demand. Generally, the water requirement for plant growth at the booting stage of corn is about 27%-38% of the total water requirement during the whole growth period. The soil moisture in this period should be maintained at 70%-75% of the field water holding capacity. Fertilize with water to meet the fertilizer and water needs of corn growth and development.

Heavy application of panicle fertilizer. The application of panicle fertilizer can not only improve the photosynthesis efficiency, but also promote the growth of the panicle leaves and the upper and lower leaves, and can extend the life of the leaves and promote the fullness of the seeds. The application time of panicle fertilizer is related to corn variety and soil fertility. In general, early-maturing varieties are used in 15-16 slices of visible leaves or 8-10 slices of unfolded leaves; medium-late-maturing varieties are suitable for application in 15-17 slices of visible leaves or 11-12 slices of leaves, with sufficient base fertilizer and vigorous growth. For plots, it is advisable to apply panicle fertilizer slowly. It is advisable to start planting a small number of plants in the whole field; the growth potential of lean soil with insufficient base fertilizer is poor, and the ear fertilizer should be applied early. Spike fertilizer should use quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer. Generally, 25-35 kg of ammonium bicarbonate is applied per acre. If urea is used, 7.5-10 kg per acre can be applied.
