New Organic Luminous Material Glows One Hour

A study published by Nature magazine in the UK recently reported that Japanese scientists have developed an organic luminous material that can emit light for more than one hour. Compared to current luminous material production systems, the materials described in the article do not contain rare elements and do not require high manufacturing temperatures.

Long Afterglow Luminescence (LPL) materials, also known as Luminescent Luminescent Materials, are often used as luminous paints and are widely used in instruments, optoelectronic devices, emergency signs and other items as well as defense and military fields. Its principle is a photoluminescence system that emits visible light under the excitation of a light source and stores some of the obtained light energy. When the excitation is stopped, it can slowly release energy in the form of light. However, most commercial luminous paints are based on inorganic systems. Not only do they require rare elements for long-term light emission, but also the manufacturing temperature needs to reach above 1000 degrees Celsius. Until now, the luminescence (phosphorescence) has been extended by organic molecules, which only lasts for a few minutes.

This time, scientists and scientists from the University of Kyushu, Japan, Anda Qianboya and colleagues, used two simple organic molecules to make organic long-lasting luminescent materials at room temperature, and they emitted light for more than one hour. Compared with the current inorganic long afterglow light emitting system, the new material does not contain rare elements and is also easier to manufacture.

The researchers believe that after further development, the system is expected to be flexible and color adjustable. They stated that these features enable the long-lasting, long-lasting luminescent materials to be widely used in the imaging of textiles, windows, coatings, and organics. (Reporter Zhang Mengran)
