When it comes to selecting a fuel tank, there are several key factors to consider:
1. **Tank Capacity**: For mobile equipment, the fuel tank should hold 2 to 3 times the maximum flow rate of the pump. For stationary equipment, 3 to 4 times the pump's maximum flow is recommended.
2. **Oil Level Management**: The oil level must not fall below the minimum when all hydraulic cylinders are fully extended. Similarly, when the cylinders are retracted, the oil level should not exceed the maximum mark.
3. **Tank Design**: Traditional fuel tanks often have partitions that don’t help with sedimentation. Instead, a vertical partition aligned with the tank’s longitudinal axis should be installed. There should be a gap between the baffle and the end plate, allowing communication between the two sides. The hydraulic pump’s inlet and outlet should be placed on opposite sides of the non-connected baffle to maximize the distance between the oil intake and return lines, improving efficiency and cooling.
