When selecting a fuel tank, there are several important factors to consider:
1. **Tank Capacity**: For mobile equipment, the tank should hold 2 to 3 times the maximum pump flow rate. For fixed systems, it should be 3 to 4 times the pump flow. This ensures sufficient oil volume for cooling and circulation.
2. **Oil Level Management**: The oil level must not drop below the minimum when all cylinders are extended, and it should not exceed the maximum when the cylinders are retracted. Proper oil levels prevent overheating and ensure efficient system operation.
3. **Tank Design**: Traditional fuel tanks often have partitions that do not effectively separate contaminants. Instead, a vertical partition aligned with the tank's axis is recommended. This design allows for better sedimentation and oil circulation. The baffle should leave space at one end to allow communication between the two sides, while the pump’s inlet and outlet ports should be placed on opposite ends of the baffle. This increases the distance between the oil intake and return, improving system efficiency.
