Coal Mine Fire Emergency Drill

To enhance the emergency response capabilities of mine rescue teams and ensure that disaster relief operations are carried out swiftly and efficiently, while minimizing risks to miners and reducing property damage from coal mine accidents, the Yongchun County Coal Mine Administration conducted a coal mine fire emergency drill on June 18th. The exercise took place at the No. 2 pit of Piteng Coal Mine, focusing on improving preparedness for potential fire incidents.

The drill simulated a fire caused by an electrical short circuit that ignited surrounding support materials, resulting in two operators being trapped. Upon receiving the alarm, Quanzhou Mine Rescue Co., Ltd. quickly dispatched its rescue squad to the site. The Yongchun County Coal Administration immediately established an on-site emergency command center, forming seven key groups: the integrated coordination team, on-site rescue team, logistics support group, safety and security group, medical and health team, post-incident care group, and accident investigation team. Each group worked collaboratively to carry out both underground and surface-level drills.

All personnel involved were equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE) according to strict guidelines set forth in the drill plan. The entire operation was well-organized, with clear roles and responsibilities assigned to each team. During the two-hour drill, every step—from arriving at the scene, investigating the fire, extinguishing it, rescuing the trapped individuals, checking for hidden flames, detecting harmful gases, to cleaning up the area—was executed with precision and urgency. The coordinated efforts of all participants demonstrated a high level of preparedness and professionalism.

This exercise not only tested the effectiveness of existing emergency protocols but also highlighted areas for improvement. It reinforced the importance of rapid response, teamwork, and proper training in ensuring the safety of miners during critical situations. The successful completion of the drill marked a significant step forward in enhancing the region's overall coal mine safety management system.
