Lily cultivation techniques

Lilies are bulbous herbs belonging to the Liliaceae family. Their stems are straight and elegant, with lush green foliage and unique flower shapes that come in a wide range of colors. These beautiful flowers are highly popular among gardeners and flower lovers around the world. There are several types of lilies, including Asian lilies, oriental lilies, and trumpet lilies. Most are grown in open fields with minimal care, though some are also cultivated in pots. Before they bloom, lilies are often transplanted into containers, or they can be directly planted in pots during spring. In open fields, watering is usually done once a day, and placing them on a balcony allows them to absorb natural sunlight and moisture. Musk lilies, in particular, prefer cool and humid environments. They thrive best in areas with partial shade and plenty of sunlight. It's important to avoid extreme drought or high summer temperatures, as these can negatively affect their growth. They have a moderate cold tolerance, with optimal growth occurring between 16°C and 24°C. When temperatures drop below 5°C or rise above 30°C, growth almost stops. Growth resumes when temperatures remain above 10°C, but if it exceeds 25°C, development becomes stagnant. In winter, if temperatures stay below 5°C for 5–7 days, it can lead to poor flower bud formation, delayed flowering, or even blind flowers and cracked blooms. Lilies grow best in fertile, humus-rich, and deep soil. They do not perform well in hard clay soils. Well-drained, slightly acidic soil with a pH between 5.5 and 6 is ideal. Propagation methods for lilies include bulb division, scale cuttings, seed sowing, and tissue culture. Bulb division involves separating small bulbs (called "offsets") that form on the main bulb, either underground or near the surface. These can be stored or planted directly. After one year of growth, one main bulb can produce one to three or more smaller bulbs. After harvesting in autumn, the bulbs can be planted in the following spring, or they can be planted directly into the ground in the fall. Scale cuttings involve cutting mature stems into sections or peeling off individual scales and burying them in sand. After about 30 days, small bulbs will form from the base of the scales. This method is typically done from April to May, with the top of the scale left slightly exposed. After 2–4 months of planting, most scales will develop roots and leaves, forming small bulbs. At this stage, they can be transplanted into pots or planted in the garden. For seed propagation, seeds should be selected based on embryo development and placed in a bright area before sowing. The ideal germination temperature is 12–15°C, with faster sprouting at 15°C, though the resulting seedlings may be weak. Germination does not occur below 5°C, and seeds may go dormant above 25°C. Sowing can be done in spring or autumn, with seeds covered by 0.5–1 cm of soil. Seedlings typically emerge within 20–30 days. Plants grown from seeds usually take 2–3 years to flower after being transplanted in autumn.

As a professional factory specializing in LED outdoor lighting, we manufacture a wide range of garden floodlights that combine powerful performance with weatherproof durability. Our lights are engineered for residential, commercial, and public landscape applications—ensuring consistent brightness, energy savings, and flexible mounting options.

What Is a Garden Flood Light?

A garden flood light is a high-output lighting fixture with a wide beam angle, typically between 60° and 120°, designed to wash light across gardens, lawns, walls, trees, or open spaces. Unlike spotlights which create focused beams, floodlights cover broader areas with uniform brightness.

LED garden floodlights offer high lumen output, long life, and minimal energy consumption. They are often adjustable in angle and mounted on the ground, poles, or walls to direct light where it’s needed most.
