Recently, the Liaoning Provincial Bureau of Quality Supervision conducted a comprehensive inspection of five key construction materials, including aluminum alloy building profiles, plastic pipes (pipe fittings), unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U) profiles for doors and windows, adhesives, and solvent-based wood coatings. A total of 239 batches from 157 companies across 12 regions, such as Shenyang and Dalian, were sampled, achieving an impressive sampling rate of 93.3%. This initiative highlights the bureau's ongoing efforts to ensure product quality and protect consumer safety in the construction industry.
Among the inspected products, 40 batches of aluminum alloy building profiles from 27 manufacturers were tested, with a pass rate of 97.5%, slightly lower than the 2011 results by 2.5 percentage points. The main issues found were related to wall thickness, tensile strength, and non-proportional extension strength. For plastic pipes and fittings, 100 batches from 80 companies were tested, resulting in a 91% pass rate. Non-compliant items included outer diameter, wall thickness, density, melting temperature, hydrostatic pressure, tensile yield strength, drop hammer impact, and product labeling.
The inspection also covered 50 batches of PVC-U profiles for doors and windows from 30 companies, with a 92% pass rate. The main problems were related to tensile and drop impact resistance. Adhesive samples, totaling 30 batches from 22 companies, had a 93.3% qualification rate, but some failed due to excessive free formaldehyde content. Notably, all 19 batches of solvent-based wood coatings from 10 companies passed the inspection with a 100% qualification rate.
These products are widely used in construction and decoration projects, making their quality critical to both project integrity and public safety. In response to the findings, the Liaoning Quality Supervision Bureau has urged local authorities to enforce the "Product Quality Law of the People's Republic of China" and relevant administrative regulations. They have called for strict measures to address non-compliant manufacturers, encourage quality improvements, and monitor the correction process closely.
