Yili's largest generator unit successfully connected to the grid

At 3:26 PM on December 21st, following the directive from the dispatch and control center of Xinjiang Electric Power Co., Ltd., the first-phase centralized control room operator at SDIC Ili Energy Development Co., Ltd. clicked the mouse and closed the 2201 circuit breaker at the No. 1 transformer station. On the large screen, the display of Yili's largest generator unit—part of the 2×330 MW thermal power plant—immediately appeared. In that moment, the leaders in the control room and the staff who had worked tirelessly for days erupted into cheers. The Phase I thermal power project of SDIC Ili Energy Development Co., Ltd. has a total installed capacity of 660 MW, marking the first large-scale modern power plant in the Ili region. Since the start of construction, the project has received strong support from the regional Party committee and government, as well as the Yili State Party committee, Yining Municipal Party committee, and local governments. Their continuous assistance has been crucial to achieving multiple key milestones, including the successful commissioning of the power plant and its integration into the Xinjiang Power Grid. On December 21st, the company celebrated another milestone with the successful grid connection of Unit No. 1. The unit is now officially part of the Xinjiang Power Grid and has started carrying an initial load. It is expected to soon begin the 168-hour full-load test run, after which it will become a key power source for the Ili region. Meanwhile, the construction of Unit No. 2 is progressing smoothly and is scheduled to be officially commissioned in February next year. During the "12th Five-Year Plan" period, the company plans to focus on the construction of the second-phase 2×350 MW cogeneration project, a 2×660 MW thermal power plant, and the Corktas Reservoir Project. These developments are expected to accelerate the pace of industrialization in Ili and drive its economic leap forward. This project not only meets the growing energy demands of the region but also supports sustainable development and long-term stability in the area.
