Henan launches new research on grid-connected photovoltaics

On December 24, it was reported that the Henan Electric Power Company has officially launched the "Research on the Distribution of Distributed Photovoltaic Access and Deepening of Grid Integration in Henan Province." This initiative aims to lead the State Grid Corporation in implementing restructuring measures for distributed photovoltaics, ensuring stable operations, and achieving the goal of being "detectable and capable" in grid integration. The project is designed to support and accelerate the development of distributed photovoltaic power generation across the province. Since 2010, as a pilot unit under the State Grid Corporation, Henan Power has been at the forefront of exploring and researching distributed photovoltaic grid integration. In collaboration with the Henan Finance and Taxation College, they established the first distributed photovoltaic power generation and microgrid operation control pilot project within the State Grid system. Through this project, the company gained valuable insights into how distributed photovoltaics impact distribution networks, and it helped develop expertise in distributed generation, energy storage integration, and microgrid control. With the release of the "Opinions of the State Grid Corporation of China on Implementing Grid-Connected Photovoltaic Power Generation Services," the Henan company is now actively enhancing its grid connection services. Leveraging the Henan Finance pilot project, the focus is on improving accessibility, grid adaptability, maintenance, and inspection for distributed photovoltaics. The "Study on Deepening the Relationship between Distributed Photovoltaic Access and Grids" has been initiated to further support the rapid growth of distributed solar power in the region. The study includes three key areas: "Research on the Adaptability of Distributed Photovoltaic Integration in Distribution Networks," "Research on Distributed Photovoltaic Access Control and Reliable Maintenance," and "Research on the Development of Test Capabilities for Distribution Networks." Based on these topics, the provincial company will establish a comprehensive evaluation system and assessment method for the impact of distributed photovoltaics on the grid. It will also develop strategies for upgrading distribution network equipment to accommodate distributed solar systems and trial-produce intelligent operation control devices for universal use. Additionally, a safety performance evaluation system and testing platform for grid-connected photovoltaics will be built, enabling the province to effectively test and detect distributed solar power integration. This will ultimately help achieve the goal of having robust, reliable, and capable grid integration for distributed photovoltaic systems.
