Henan launches new research on grid-connected photovoltaics

On December 24, it was reported that Henan Power Company has officially launched the "Research on the Distribution of Distributed Photovoltaic Access and Deepening Grid Integration in Henan Province." The initiative aims to lead the State Grid Corporation in restructuring grid access for distributed photovoltaics, ensuring operational reliability and enhancing the capability to detect and manage such systems. This project is designed to support the rapid development of distributed solar power generation across the province. Since 2010, Henan Power Company has been at the forefront of exploring distributed photovoltaic integration as a pilot unit under the State Grid Corporation. In collaboration with the Henan Finance and Taxation College, they established the first distributed photovoltaic power generation and microgrid operation control pilot project under the State Grid. Through this initiative, the company studied the impact of distributed solar generation on local distribution networks, gained early insights into technologies like energy storage and microgrid control, and accumulated valuable experience in managing microgrids. With the recent release of the "Opinions of the State Grid Corporation of China on Implementing Grid-Connected Photovoltaic Power Generation Services," Henan Power Company is actively expanding its grid connection services. Building on the success of the Henan Finance pilot, the company is focusing on improving accessibility, grid adaptability, operation, maintenance, and inspection processes for distributed photovoltaics. This led to the initiation of the "Study on Deepening the Relationship between Distributed Photovoltaic Access and Grids" to further accelerate the growth of solar power in the region. The study includes three key sub-topics: "Research on the Adaptability of Distributed Photovoltaic Grid Integration in Distribution Networks," "Research on Distributed Photovoltaic Access Control and Reliable Maintenance," and "Research on the Development of Test Capabilities for Distribution Networks." Focusing on these areas, the provincial company will develop a comprehensive evaluation system to assess the impact of distributed solar on the grid, create strategies for upgrading grid equipment, and trial-produce intelligent operation control devices for distributed photovoltaics. Additionally, they are building a safety performance evaluation system and testing platform to enhance the grid’s ability to detect and manage solar power integration, ultimately achieving the goal of a reliable and capable distribution network for distributed photovoltaic systems.
