Recently, the Liaoning Provincial Bureau of Quality Supervision conducted a comprehensive inspection of five key construction materials, including aluminum alloy building profiles, plastic pipes (pipe fittings), unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U) profiles for doors and windows, adhesives, and solvent-based wood coatings. A total of 239 batches of products from 157 companies across 12 regions, including Shenyang and Dalian, were sampled, with an overall sampling rate of 93.3%. This survey aimed to ensure product quality and protect consumer safety in construction projects.
Among the inspected items, 40 batches of aluminum alloy building profiles from 27 manufacturers were tested, achieving a pass rate of 97.5%, slightly lower than the 2011 results by 2.5 percentage points. The main issues found included wall thickness, tensile strength, and non-proportional extension strength. For plastic pipes and fittings, 100 batches from 80 companies were checked, resulting in a 91% pass rate. Non-compliant items included outer diameter, wall thickness, density, melting temperature, hydrostatic test, tensile yield strength, drop hammer impact, and product labeling.
In the case of PVC-U profiles for doors and windows, 50 batches from 30 companies were tested, with a 92% pass rate. Tensile impact strength and drop impact of the main profile were the primary issues. Adhesive samples, totaling 30 batches from 22 companies, had a 93.3% qualification rate, but free formaldehyde levels were found to be non-compliant. Notably, solvent-based wood coatings from 10 companies showed a 100% pass rate, indicating high-quality performance in this category.
These products are widely used in construction and renovation projects, directly impacting building quality and the safety of residents. In response to the findings, the Liaoning Quality Supervision Bureau has urged local authorities to strictly enforce the "Product Quality Law of the People's Republic of China" and related administrative regulations. They have also called for immediate corrective actions, urging manufacturers to improve their production standards and ensuring that substandard products are properly addressed.
