According to Pan Wenhui, the general manager of the solar cell plant, Jingjing is set to introduce a P-type high-efficiency monocrystalline battery in 2013. The company previously engaged in technical collaboration with an Ashkenazi solar plant, but the battery development was handled by Shining at that time. Now, 20% efficient monocrystalline cells are entering production and are expected to be launched in the first half of 2013. Initial capacity planning is set at 80MWp.
The 20% efficiency mark is already close to the theoretical limit for P-type monocrystals. To further enhance performance, the industry may need to shift toward N-type monocrystalline cells, which are still in the research phase. Although Jingjing hasn't yet provided a clear timeline for N-type product launches due to the technology's immaturity, the company remains committed to R&D and cost reduction. Industry experts believe that with growing demand for high-efficiency solar products, Jingjing’s P-type monocrystals could capture a profitable market share.
As the solar energy market becomes more competitive, there is increasing pressure on manufacturers to improve conversion efficiency. This has led to a positive industry outlook on upgrading both P-type monocrystalline and polycrystalline cells. Many companies see this as a key factor in determining future success. Meanwhile, Type N technology is also being actively developed, though mass production readiness among major players is still limited.
